Club Details: London Irish
London Irish, also known as 'The Exiles', are based in Middlesex.
London Irish Rugby Football Club was formed in 1898 as the need for a sports club for Irish expats living in London increased. A group consisting of politicians, lawyers and businessmen came together to form the club.
Success came in 1980 as Lodon Irish reached the final of the John Player Cup at Twickenham, and also finished top of the RFU Club Merit Table for London.
In 1990-91 London Irish was promoted to the first division, with a side that contained four Ireland internationals, Simon Geoghegan, Jim Staples, David Curtis and Rob Saunders.
In the 1998-99 season the club celebrated its centenary in traditional Irish style.
The 2009-10 season saw them finish in 6th place.
