France are an accomplished side, and in fact only England has more senior rugby players. They play in a an attacking style, and are unpredictable in their approach.
Currently, France are the only nation within the northern hemisphere to reach two World Cup Finals, losing in 1987 to New Zealand and in 1999 were runners-up to Australia. This result came after producing a magnificent performance in beating a strong New Zealand side in a famous semi-final at Twickenham.
Losing to England in the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup, they came back strongly in the Six Nations, winning the Grand Slam in 2004.
France finished 2nd in the 2005 Six Nations, and came back even stronger to win the 2006 tournament and retaining the title again in 2007.
France finished in joint 2nd place in 2008, 3rd in 2009 and won the tournament in 2010.
