Ireland

The Ireland national rugby union team represents both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Most home agmes are played at Lansdowne Road in Dublin, some in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Instead of using the Republic's tricolour, the flaq uses symbols representing the four provinces of Ireland.
The Irish Football Union was not formed in 1874, but club rugby had been played for many years before that. Ireland played their first test match against England in 1875 at the Oval, but it was not until 1881 that they first won a test, against Scotland at Ormeau in Belfast.
They have performed inconsistently at international level Ireland, winning the Grand Slam only once in 1948. They have won the Triple Crown seven times, most recently in 2004.
Recent years have seen a 4th place finish in 2008, followed by winning the tournament in 2009 and a 2nd place finish in 2010.
